Awning fabric not cleaned for years: what to expect?

An honest answer: professional cleaning almost always recovers cleanliness, often the colour, but never a worn fibre.

What comes off

• The grey or black pollution film: completely.
• Moss and green algae, including in the folds.
• Mould spots: fully on acrylic, sometimes a faint shadow on old polyester.
• Bird droppings, sap, pollen and musty smell.

What may remain

• UV fading on the exposed part.
• Rust stains from the frame.
• Halos from past pressure-washing or bleach.
• Brittle fibre.
